Strategy for Sustainable Food Systems in Japan

There are a wide range of issues that need to be addressed globally with regard to agriculture, forestry, fisheries and food sectors, including climate change and the associated increase in large-scale disasters. Japan's agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries are facing a shortage of labor due to the ageing of the population. In order to address these issues, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) launched the Strategy MeaDRI, a strategy for a sustainable food system, on 12 May 2021.  Click the second link below for details on the Sustainable Food Systems Strategy.

JAMMA (Japan Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Association) consists of 63 manufacturer companies in Japan and works on a wide range of activities such as safety, environment and standardization. Masatoshi Kimata is currently President of JAMMA and Chairman and Representative Director of KUBOTA Corporation. Click the link below to see Mr. Kimata's review of the government's sustainability efforts, followed by an overview of the private sector's efforts including KUBOTA initiatives.
