Insights on Turkish Tractor Market Trends and Emission Standards: Turkish Tractor Sales Fall in the First Quarter of 2022 due to Supply Chain Disruption!

With regard to tractor sales in Turkey, the preliminary figures from the Traffic Registration Bureau report that  6.452 unit tractors were registered in February 2022. Correspondingly, domestic sales dropped by 32.6 percent year-on-year in 2022. Based on the average of the last 5 years, the figure marked a decrease of 2,5 percent in the tractor sales, and on the other side, a total of 6,788 tractors were registered to the traffic in the January-February period.

Apart from these, the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry, and Technology has recently announced the extension for the effective date of Stage V emission standards for non-road engines. The standards are harmonized with EU regulations for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), but implementation dates are different, as outlined in Table 1. Stage IV emission standards were originally scheduled for 2014, delayed until 2019, and finally implemented for agricultural and forestry tractors effective 2021. Stage V emission standards go into effect January 2023.
