2023 TRACTOR AND COMBINE SALES
Through August, combine harvester sales show continued gains in unit sales while large ag tractors (2WD 100+ HP and 4WD tractors) also show sizable gains compared to 2022 during the same time period. In particular, 4WD tractors are up 34% YOY.
Total U.S. ag tractor unit sales are down 9% from the same period in 2022. Driving this decline are the notable decreases in tractors under 100HP; 40-100 HP sales are down 8% YOY, while sales of smaller, under 40 HP tractors are down 12%.
In Canada, combine harvesters are up 33% compared to the previous period last year. Large ag tractor sales are not up as sharply in Canada as

French agricultural equipment market for 1st half 2023: rising billings, falling orders
In France, the economic situation in the first half of the year was quite satisfactory. Growth forecasts have been raised to 1% for 2023, with a slight acceleration expected in 2024 (+1.2%). The disinflation trend is set to continue over the coming months. Nevertheless, at 2.7%, the inflation rate forecast for 2024 will remain above the central banks' target (+2%). Business sentiment remains good: corporate margins continued to expand in 2023. Household morale, on the other hand, is low, and households are more inclined to save than to spend.
Climatology has not been negative in France, as in other countries. In terms of both temperature and precipitation, the year so far has
Machinery industry positive despite tougher environment
UK farming has recently been through two good years in 2021 and 2022, when prices for many agricultural commodities were high and crop yields were high. Although input costs were also on an upward trend, the full impact of these rises won’t have been felt until late 2022 or into 2023. Arable and dairy farms did particularly well in those two years, thanks to surging grain and milk prices. As they are the main buyers of new agricultural machinery, that led to an increase in orders for many types of equipment. However, disruptions to global supply chains, along with rising costs and labour shortages, meant manufacturers struggled to keep up with demand.
Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels for Climate-Smart EU Agricultural Machinery: Circular Agriculture in Action
Agriculture, as a part of a circular economy, can only become sustainable when it overcomes its major dependency on fossil fuel. Conventional fuel is still a contributor to the overall agricultural carbon footprint.
In this position paper agricultural machinery manufacturers set out to describe the different options to deliver a significant reduction of agricultural equipment’s CO2 footprint. Key to this is an intelligent and effective use of all the available options within the agricultural production process, keeping into consideration the specific conditions and capabilities of each farmer and of the sector to achieve th

Russian Agricultural Machinery Production January – August 2023
The industry is successfully adapting in difficult conditions, illustrating the reliability of Russian agricultural machinery. This year (January – August) the domestic market grew in physical terms by 41%; Russian production of agricultural machinery and equipment by 24%, imports increased by 63%. The high growth of imports relative to 2022 is associated with a low base for the same period in 2022 (in 2022, a number of foreign manufacturers of agricultural machinery suspended or significantly reduced supplies of agricultural machinery to Russia; in 2023 some deliveries resumed). Export of Russian agricultural machinery increased by 12%.
